Ride
When I was little, every new book was like a portal suddenly open in my bedroom. The doors that never closed came from Madeleine L'Engle and Susan Cooper.
I write books for middle grade and young adult readers, but I read absolutely everything. You are as likely to see me curled up on the sofa reading a biography about physicist Richard Feynman, as you are reading a book by Terry Pratchett, Alice Hoffman or Kate DiCamillo. My middle grade time travel novel, A TIME TRAVELER'S THEORY OF RELATIVITY is on shelves now.
I have an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Currently I teach writing workshops at the Highlights Foundation in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. I was the founding Chief Technology Officer of Figment.com, a website for teens interested in reading and writing young adult fiction, which sold to Random House in 2013. My short story The Weeping Beech can be found in Chester County Fiction by Oermead Press. Outside of fictional world-building you can find me walking around with a hawk on my arm (I love falconry) or knitting.

I write about the things that fill me with wonder, the times where science falls short of explanation and magic has room to sneak in.

I love stories that point out exactly where the physical, natural world and the magical realm overlap.
